ABOUT THE PERFORMERS – April 14, 2026
QUINTEN GRIMM
Drawing inspiration from generations of influential Canadian songwriters, Quinten Grimm weaves stories that capture the adventure, hardship, tragedy, and elation of the country’s past—as well as the nuances of life in Canada today.
Grimm began playing guitar at the age of eight in his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, first studying classical technique before gradually finding his voice in heartfelt songwriting and honest folk, country, and bluegrass arrangements.
His live performances have evolved from intimate solo sets in Austrian coffeehouses to sharing the stage with some of Canada’s most respected acoustic musicians, including Trent Freeman, Mark Kilianski, John Reischman, Patrick M’Gonigle, Jeff Scroggins, Bob Sumner and Allison de Groot
Grimm’s debut four-song EP Box of Clay showcases vivid imagery, emotional depth, and a clear artistic voice, signaling a bright future for this rising balladeer. https://www.instagram.com/quintengrimm
KIM JUNE JOHNSON is an award-winning singer-songwriter and poet. Her fifth album, “Songs For a Quiet Day” is a collection of small songs praising quiet things. The video for the single “Oh To Love What Is Lovely” was handmade by Kim using acrylic paint on canvas, collage, photographs and stop-motion animation. (Well worth seeing!) Her poems and short nonfiction have appeared in Best Canadian Poetry, Room, Prairie Fire, Arc Poetry, The New Quarterly, PINHOLE, River Teeth’s Beautiful Things and elsewhere. Her live shows combine music and improv poetry readings and are often performed in living rooms and small halls with her cellist, Jordie Robinson. In a previous life (early 2000s) she was an internationally distributed Christian worship singer before her faith fell apart and she started working in the field of religious & spiritual trauma. But that’s another story. She hosts an online writing community called Cozy Sunday Write-ins and teaches songwriting and writing workshops online and in-person. She lives in a draughty house beside a creek with her teen daughter and an assortment of animals. https://kimjunejohnson.comAugust Winter
