Shari Ulrich hosts Sam Lynch, Ryan McMahon & Winter Wilson on Tues. Sept. 9th's Songbird North -  Vancouver's longest running songwriters showcase (30 years!) presented by the Songwriters Association of Canada.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS – Sept. 09, 2025

SAM LYNCH

Sam Lynch is a Vancouver based singer-songwriter, musician, and producer. Her work explores existence, isolation, and introspection with striking profundity and clarity. Her debut LP, Little Disappearance, released via Birthday Cake Records, propelled her onto some of the country’s biggest venue and festival stages, appearing in headlining roles and in support of artists such as Men I Trust, Andy Shauf, and Faye Webster. Sam's songwriting contributions have earned her numerous awards and accolades, including the 2022 Western Canadian Music award for “Songwriter of the Year”.

Where music so often pushes us into our own memories and ideas, into the seemingly endless web of our thoughts, Sam Lynch has the ability to turn off the noise. She's a songwriter who—after her song ends, and time starts flowing again—causes a shift in the framework of how we hold ourselves.

RYAN MCMAHON

Ryan McMahon likes to tell people he’s a late bloomer. But when looking at the body of work the 43-year-old from Ladysmith, British Columbia has amassed since 2006, he certainly has made up for lost time. With six releases under his name and two with his side project Lion Bear Fox,

Ryan has established himself as one of western Canada’s most prolific singer/songwriters, leading to multiple Vancouver Island Music Awards and supporting slots for Burton Cummings, Tom Cochrane, Mother Mother, Lee Harvey Osmond and others.

WINTER WILSON

Dubbed as one of the hardest working duos on the circuit, UK based, Kip Winter and Dave Wilson have performed in Germany, Australia, Spain, Canada, Belgium and New Zealand. They've released a string of critically acclaimed albums, one of the highlights being Live & Unconventional. The live album, recorded on tour and at Cropredy Festival  with folk rock icons Fairport Convention. The reviews were exceptional. For it is in live performance where these two really excel. They bring a sense of intimacy to every venue, blending superb, often hard-hitting original songs, stunning harmonies and musicianship with sometimes hilarious humour and tales of life on the road. Kip (vocals, accordion, guitar, flute) "simply has a voice to die for” ( John Roffey, Maverick Magazine), whilst Dave (vocals, guitar and banjo) is now rightly recognized as being amongst the top tier of British songwriters, with his songs sung in folk clubs across the UK and beyond. Together, their voices are sublime.
